NorthStar Corporate Income’s Approach to Investing
We aim to achieve our investment objectives by:
Providing capital globally, primarily in North America and Europe, to established companies across a diverse array of industries focused on performing corporate credit assets.
Targeting companies with established market positions, seasoned management teams, proven products and services, strong regional or national operations and positive cash flows.
Employing disciplined underwriting policies by adhering to rigorous risk management protocols throughout the investment process. We intend to favor investments that have strong protections, including default penalties, prepayment fees and financial covenants that may help us to reduce our risk of capital loss.
Building a comprehensive portfolio by identifying, sourcing and providing capital to companies across industries, geographies and sizes while investing across the capital structure.
Focusing on senior secured loans which may offer protection against rising interest rates due to their predominantly floating rate nature. We also believe senior secured loans may offer favorable structural characteristics as they have low historical default rates and high recovery rates.1
Capitalizing on the global reach and the capital markets relationships of our adviser to originate opportunities that may not be available to other managers. Colony NorthStar has an established global presence with offices throughout the U.S., Europe and Asia.
